Make an Origami Envelope

Origami Envelope Tutorial
Origami Envelope for Journaling

I love including pockets and envelopes in my journal pages, they're great for tucking some private journaling or tickets into. In this tutorial, I'm going to share how to make this lovely origami envelope.

You can click on any of the images below to enlarge them.

Step 1: This is an example of the origami envelope that we will be making.

Step 2: You will need a piece of patterned paper, or you could decorate a sheet yourself.

Step 3: Trim your paper into the shape of a square.

Step 4: Turn your piece of paper over, so that the pattern is facing downwards.

Step 5: Fold your piece of paper in half, to create a triangle.

Step 6: Fold the top layer down, so that the point lines up with the bottom of your envelope.

Step 7: Fold the right-hand corner so that it goes a little way beyond the centre point.

Step 8: Now do the same with the left-hand corner.

Step 9: Fold the left-hand corner back on itself, so that the fold lines up with the centre point.

Step 10: Open up the small fold that you just made to create a pocket.

Step 11: Press that pocket flat, which creates a little place for you to tuck the top of the envelope into.

Ta da! You have now created an origami envelope that you can use in your journal, or for sending in happy mail. I find these so addictive, that I just keep making them!
